THE SOLENT SAFETY AWARD, JACK BENNETT TROPHY
AND GRANT McMILLAN TROPHY 2004

The Solent Safety Award, Jack Bennett Trophy and Grant McMillan Trophy are awarded for submissions containing original safety ideas or effective health, safety and environmental systems, which can or have been developed and used by individuals or organisations. Participants may also submit entries, which project methods of accident prevention, safety promotion, education or training schemes.

The Solent Safety Award is normally awarded to entries from member companies or individual group members. Entries are welcome from organisations in the public or private sector. They may be from individuals or groups. Entries from small to medium sized enterprises are particularly welcome.

The Jack Bennett Trophy is for entries from schools and 6th Form Colleges of Further Education.

The inaugural Grant McMillan Trophy is awarded to entries from children at Key Stage 2 or to youth organisations in the 7-11 year age group.

Entries for the latter 2 trophies should aim to promote safety awareness, occupational health and environmental issues through their course work, hobbies or youth group activities. Entries should demonstrate a basic understanding of hazard and risk and how they can be managed.
