THE SOLENT SAFETY AWARD, JACK BENNETT TROPHY
AND GRANT McMILLAN TROPHY 2004
The Solent Safety Award, Jack Bennett Trophy and Grant
McMillan Trophy are awarded for submissions containing
original safety ideas or effective health, safety and environmental
systems, which can or have been developed and used by individuals
or organisations. Participants may also submit entries, which
project methods of accident prevention, safety promotion,
education or training schemes.
The Solent Safety Award is normally awarded to entries
from member companies or individual group members. Entries
are welcome from organisations in the public or private sector.
They may be from individuals or groups. Entries from small
to medium sized enterprises are particularly welcome.
The Jack Bennett Trophy is for entries from schools
and 6th Form Colleges of Further Education.
The inaugural Grant McMillan Trophy is awarded to
entries from children at Key Stage 2 or to youth organisations
in the 7-11 year age group.
Entries for the latter 2 trophies should aim to promote safety
awareness, occupational health and environmental issues through
their course work, hobbies or youth group activities. Entries
should demonstrate a basic understanding of hazard and risk
and how they can be managed.
