Non-Licensed Asbestos Products

25 June 08

Venue - Southsea Fire Station, Southsea, PO5 4LU

Start Time - 1400

Speaker - Hamish Allison, Asbestos Air Monitoring Team Manager, Hampshire County Council.

Hamish manages all aspects of asbestos removal projects within the Hampshire County Council estate, compromising of approximately 7000 buildings. He also manages the asbestos repair and maintenance system within the estate to ensure all asbestos materials in situ are managed and remediated in accordance with current legislation.

He started working in the asbestos industry in 1999 after 7 years in the Royal Navy. It was not a conscious decision to move into this sector, however the opportunity came up and he has not looked back since. He started at Casella Ltd who at the time were one of the market leading environmental companies in the country. He made steady progress through the ranks, eventually becoming a Project Manager, before being offered a senior position within the Hampshire County Council asbestos team.

Nature of talk: Due to the complex nature of asbestos legislation sometimes it is very difficult to understand exactly what employers can and cannot do with regard to asbestos based materials. His aim is to make everyone aware of ‘best practise’ with regard to the safe repair, maintenance and removal of non licensable asbestos materials. With considerable experience within the asbestos sector he is also happy to answer any questions anyone may have about asbestos materials in general.
